The all-instrumental 5IVE is the maximization of a minimalist ideal: That rock music, reduced to its elements foundations of guitar and drums, can be even more effective than the most elaborate constructions of the most potent 5 or 6-piece ensemble. "Versus" is a whirling vortex of meitative sound; a sterophonic confluence of rolling thunder, slow-motion power-grooves, and chiming spatial resonance. Originally released as one half of a split LP with renowned noise nihilist kid606, the four latest 5IVE tracks are now available as a separate CDEP, complete with a new two-stage remix by Justin K Broadrick (Jesu, Godflesh, Napalm Death).
