There have been a lot of unnecessary reissues over the years, but this is one album that truly deserves full-blown expanded edition treatment. Originally released in 1986, this is Fates Warning's third, and is only talked about in hallowed tones by all who know it. Their final album to feature vocalist John Arch, 'Awaken The Guardian' is a sublime feast of technical, progressive, dark heavy metal mastery. This reissue offers the album in its entirety, plus a CD of demo and live tracks. Also includes a DVD of a 12-song live show filmed in late 1986 on Long Island, New York. Liner notes by Mike Portnoy.
